And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! And how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

When his candle shined upon my head, And when by his light I walked through darkness;

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.

Only by pride cometh contention: But with the well advised is wisdom.

The ransom of a man's life are his riches: But the poor heareth not rebuke.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; The candle of the wicked shall be put out.

But the path of the just is as the shining light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
