The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: Thine eyes are upon me, and I am not.
The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; Neither shall his place any more behold him.
Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: Surely every man is vanity. Selah.
And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, And lookest narrowly unto all my paths; Thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
If he destroy him from his place, Then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, And take away mine iniquity? For now shall I sleep in the dust; And thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: He openeth his eyes, and he is not.
But man dieth, and wasteth away: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.
