When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

I chose out their way, and sat chief, And dwelt as a king in the army, As one that comforteth the mourners.

Behold, thou hast instructed many, And thou hast strengthened the weak hands.

But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

The LORD upholdeth all that fall, And raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health.

A word fitly spoken Is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
