He delivereth the poor in his affliction, And openeth their ears in oppression.

Are the consolations of God small with thee? Is there any secret thing with thee?

Then he openeth the ears of men, And sealeth their instruction,

He openeth also their ear to discipline, And commandeth that they return from iniquity.

Take heed, regard not iniquity: For this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

And if they be bound in fetters, And be holden in cords of affliction;

But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, And from the hand of the mighty.

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, And maketh him families like a flock.

For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; The poor also, and him that hath no helper.
