For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, When God taketh away his soul?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, And they shall not escape, And their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hypocrite's hope shall perish:
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Is not destruction to the wicked? And a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, And fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
He also shall be my salvation: For an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind.
Let mine enemy be as the wicked, And he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
