He hath put my brethren far from me, And mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company.

Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, And as the stream of brooks they pass away;

They were confounded because they had hoped; They came thither, and were ashamed.

I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, And a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; And my kinsmen stand afar off.

They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children.

For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, And mine acquaintance into darkness.

Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; Thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, And I cannot come forth.

I called for my lovers, But they deceived me: My priests and mine elders Gave up the ghost in the city, While they sought their meat To relieve their souls.

She weepeth sore in the night, And her tears are on her cheeks: Among all her lovers She hath none to comfort her: All her friends have dealt treacherously with her, They are become her enemies.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
