Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; Who is he that will strike hands with me?
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: And he that hateth suretiship is sure.
Be surety for thy servant for good: Let not the proud oppress me.
For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, That might lay his hand upon us both.
Be not thou one of them that strike hands, Or of them that are sureties for debts.
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: And take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
A man void of understanding striketh hands, And becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, And thy want as an armed man.
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; And to which of the saints wilt thou turn?
