There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: But the fool rageth, and is confident.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

The just man walketh in his integrity: His children are blessed after him.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the froward mouth, do I hate.

and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, That dwellest in the land of Uz; The cup also shall pass through unto thee: Thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Let him eschew evil, and do good; Let him seek peace, and ensue it.
