the grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

By the blast of God they perish, And by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

His breath kindleth coals, And a flame goeth out of his mouth.

My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; So that I forget to eat my bread.

As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

but the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
