And Ab´ishai the brother of Jo´ab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
Then answered David and said to Ahim´elech the Hittite, and to Ab´ishai the son of Zeru-i´ah, brother to Jo´ab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Ab´ishai said, I will go down with thee.
And Ab´ishai, the brother of Jo´ab, the son of Zeru-i´ah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.
But Ab´ishai the son of Zeru-i´ah succored him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
And David said to Ab´ishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Ab´salom: take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.
And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before Ab´ishai, and entered into the city. So Jo´ab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
Then said Ab´ishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Am´alek.
