And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain, the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of E´phra-im, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gil´e-ad.

And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharva´im, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

then they came to Zerub´babel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar–had´don king of Assyria, which brought us up hither.

For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the Lord.

Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the Lord; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?

therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cher´ethim, and destroy the remnant of the seacoast.

And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child, of Gil´e-ad, that they might enlarge their border:

and I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ash´kelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.

that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gil´e-ad, as in the days of old.

Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of E´phra-im, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gil´e-ad, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aro´er that is before Rabbah;

and half Gil´e-ad, and Ash´taroth, and Ed´re-i, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manas´seh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.

And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kab´zeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

And in the valley, Eshta´ol, and Zo´re-ah, and Ashnah,
