Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Mid´i-anitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.
Then there passed by Mid´i-anites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ish´maelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
And they arose out of Mid´i-an, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.
Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eli-e´zer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephati´ah the son of Ma´achah:
Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
and he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Is´sachar were sealed twelve thousand.
