And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the Spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havoth–ja´ir unto this day, which are in the land of Gil´e-ad.
And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
And Abim´elech the son of Jerubba´al went to Shechem unto his mother's brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,
and ye are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abim´elech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother:)
Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubba´al, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubba´al, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding, yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubba´al was left; for he hid himself.
