And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephi´rah, and Beer´oth, and Kir´jath–je´arim.
For the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.
And the men of Kir´jath–je´arim came, and fetched up the ark of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Abin´adab in the hill, and sanctified Ele-a´zar his son to keep the ark of the Lord.
And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Beth–ho´ron southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kir´jath–ba´al, which is Kir´jath–je´arim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.
and the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephto´ah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Ba´alah, which is Kir´jath–je´arim:
that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than A´i, and all the men thereof were mighty.
And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come, because of the name of the Lord thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors, and that they dwelt among them.
And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.
And they went up, and pitched in Kir´jath–je´arim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Ma´haneh–dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kir´jath–je´arim.
And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kir´jath–je´arim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the Lord; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.
And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Ba´anah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beer´othite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beer´oth also was reckoned to Benjamin:
And the families of Kir´jath–je´arim; the Ithrites, and the Puhites, and the Shu´mathites, and the Mish´ra-ites; of them came the Zare´athites, and the Eshta´ulites.
And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uri´jah the son of Shemai´ah of Kir´jath–je´arim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
and Ismai´ah the Gib´e-onite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jaha´zi-el, and Jo´hanan, and Joz´abad the Geder´athite,
