Isaiah 36:11

Then said Eli´akim and Shebna and Jo´ah unto Rab–sha´keh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

And in the days of Artaxerx´es wrote Bishlam, Mith´redath, Tab´eel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerx´es king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eli´akim the son of Hilki´ah:

But Rab–sha´keh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

Then Rab–sha´keh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.

children in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chalde´ans.

Then spake the Chalde´ans to the king in Syriac, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation.
