namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gil´e-ad, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manas´sites.
the son of Geber, in Ra´moth–gil´e-ad; to him pertained the towns of Ja´ir the son of Manas´seh, which are in Gil´e-ad; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brazen bars:
Unto the sons of Mera´ri were given by lot, throughout their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zeb´ulun, twelve cities.
Unto the sons of Gershom were given, out of the family of the half tribe of Manas´seh, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, and Ash´taroth with her suburbs:
that the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbor unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gil´e-ad out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manas´seh.
And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manas´seh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Be-esh´terah with her suburbs; two cities.
