Ja´ir the son of Manas´seh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Gesh´uri and Ma-ach´athi; and called them after his own name, Ba´shan–hav´oth–ja´ir, unto this day.
And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth–re´hob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Ma´acah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.
and his second, Chil´e-ab, of Ab´igail the wife of Nabal the Car´melite; and the third, Ab´salom the son of Ma´acah the daughter of Tal´mai king of Geshur;
Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
then they came to Gedali´ah to Mizpah, even Ish´ma-el the son of Nethani´ah, and Jo´hanan and Jonathan the sons of Kare´ah, and Serai´ah the son of Tan´humeth, and the sons of E´phai the Netoph´athite, and Jezani´ah the son of a Ma-ach´athite, they and their men.
And the rest of Gil´e-ad, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manas´seh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
and reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Gesh´urites and the Ma-ach´athites, and half Gil´e-ad, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.
Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Gesh´urites, nor the Ma-ach´athites: but the Gesh´urites and the Ma-ach´athites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
