And when king David came to Bahu´rim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shim´e-i, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
Nevertheless, a lad saw them, and told Ab´salom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Bahu´rim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.
And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.
And, behold, thou hast with thee Shim´e-i the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahu´rim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahana´im: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
And Ish´ma-el the son of Nethani´ah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedali´ah the son of Ahi´kam.
