And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kir´jath–je´arim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the Lord; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.
And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Ba´ale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the Lord of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim.
And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uri´jah the son of Shemai´ah of Kir´jath–je´arim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
and the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephto´ah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Ba´alah, which is Kir´jath–je´arim:
And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Beth–ho´ron southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kir´jath–ba´al, which is Kir´jath–je´arim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.
And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephi´rah, and Beer´oth, and Kir´jath–je´arim.
And they went up, and pitched in Kir´jath–je´arim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Ma´haneh–dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kir´jath–je´arim.
