Jeho´ahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamu´tal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
And Pha´raoh–ne´choh made Eli´akim the son of Josi´ah king in the room of Josi´ah his father, and turned his name to Jehoi´akim, and took Jeho´ahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnez´zar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the Lord, and made Zedeki´ah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
It came also in the days of Jehoi´akim the son of Josi´ah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedeki´ah the son of Josi´ah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
For thus saith the Lord touching Shallum the son of Josi´ah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josi´ah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:
Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning Jehoi´akim the son of Josi´ah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!
And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the Lord, So will I give Zedeki´ah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:
And king Zedeki´ah the son of Josi´ah reigned instead of Coni´ah the son of Jehoi´akim, whom Nebuchadrez´zar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
