And the Lord says, Because this people draws near with its mouth, and they honor Me with its lips; but its heart is far from Me, and their fear of Me is taught the commandment by men;
Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come out from the waters of Judah, who swear by Jehovah’s name and make mention by the God of Israel, not in truth or in righteousness.
Yet they seek Me day by day, and desire knowledge of My ways. As a nation that has done right, and not forsaking the judgment of their God, they ask of Me judgments of righteousness; they desire to draw near to God.
transgressing and lying against Jehovah, and backsliding from after our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and murmuring words of falsehood from the heart.
