So I will give their wives to others, their fields to those who possess them. For everyone from the least even to the greatest cuts off a profit; from the prophet and to the priest, everyone deals a lie.
And will you profane Me among My people for handfuls of barley, and for bits of bread, to cause to die the souls that should not die, and to save alive the souls that should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies?
so that you may remember and be ashamed. And you will not any more open your mouth, because of your shame, when I am propitiated for you for all that you have done, a statement of the Lord Jehovah.
Her heads judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they will lean on Jehovah, saying, Is not Jehovah in our midst? Evil shall not come on us!
So says Jehovah concerning the prophets, those causing My people to err, those biting with their teeth and they call out, Peace! And whoever does not give for their mouth, they even sanctify a war against him.
But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of Heaven before men; for you do not enter, nor do you allow those entering to go in.
But the hireling, not even being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and forsakes the sheep and flees. And the wolf seizes them, and scatters the sheep.
But we know that as many things as the law says, it says to the ones within the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be accountable to God.
and with it all, they also learn to be idle, going around the houses, and not only idle, but also bubbling gossip, and trifling ones, speaking the things not proper.
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to be godly to their own house and to make a return payment to their forefathers, for this is good and pleasing before God.
(It is right for the overseer to be blameless as a steward of God) not self-pleasing, not prone to anger, not given to wine, not a quarreler, not greedy of ill gain;
clinging to the faithful Word according to the teaching, that he may be able both to encourage by sound doctrine and to convict the ones contradicting.
