But evening having come, the Lord of the vineyard said to his overseer, Call the workers and pay them the wage, beginning from the last ones to the first ones.
And Ruth said, Do not entreat me to leave you, to turn back from following you. For where you go, I will go. And where you stay, I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.
And they went, both of them, until they came into Beth-lehem. And it happened as they came into Beth-lehem, all the city was moved at them. And they said, Is this Naomi?
And Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the fields of Moab. And they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.
And she said, Please let me glean, and I shall gather among the sheaves after the reapers. And she came and has remained since morning, even until now. She sat in the house a little while.
