A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; I earnestly seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You, as in a dry and weary land without water.
Do not look at me, that I am black, that the sun has looked on me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me the one keeping the vineyards; but my own vineyard I have not kept.
For You are a stronghold to the poor one, a stronghold to the needy one in his distress, a refuge from storm, a shadow from heat; because the breath of the terrifying one is like a storm against a wall.
And a Man shall be a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place; like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
Afflicted ones and the needy ones seek water, and there is not any; their tongue is parched for thirst. I, Jehovah will answer them, the God of Israel; I will not leave them.
They shall not hunger and not thirst; and the heat and sun shall not strike them. For He who has mercy on them shall lead them; and He shall guide them by the springs of water.
So the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry. Behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty. Behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed.
And it happened when the sun shone, God had appointed a scorching east wind; and the sun struck Jonah’s head, so that he fainted; and he asked for his life to death. And he said, Better is my death than my life.
but whoever may drink of the water which I will give him will not thirst, not ever! But the water which I will give to him will become a fountain of water in him, springing up into everlasting life.
For the sun rose with the burning heat and dried up the grass, and its flower fell out, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also the rich one will fade away in his journeys. Isa. 40:6, 7
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no longer, nor mourning, nor outcry, nor will there be pain still; for the first things passed away.
