In the day of my distress I sought the Lord; my hand spread out in the night and did not grow benumbed; my soul refused to be comforted.

And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him. And he refused to be comforted, and said, I will go down to Sheol mourning for my son. And his father wept for him.

With my soul I desire You in the night; yea, with my spirit within me I diligently seek You. For when Your judgments are in the earth, those living in the world learn righteousness.

Jehovah, they visited You in distress; they poured out a whisper; Your chastening was to them.

who in the days of His flesh was offering both petitions and entreaties to the One being able to save Him from death, with strong crying and tears, and being heard from His godly fear;

Come and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us. He has stricken, and He will bind us up.

The spirit of a man will endure his sickness, but who can bear a stricken spirit?

I will call on You in the day of my trouble, for You will answer me.

when I remember You upon my bed. I will meditate on You in the night watches.

In my distress I called on Jehovah and I cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry went before Him, into His ears.

If you prepare your heart, and stretch out your palm toward Him;

When there shall be famine in the land, when there is pestilence, blasting, or mildew; when there are locusts or stripping locusts, when its enemies have distressed it in the land, in its gates, with any plague and any sickness;

And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with men, and have prevailed.

Evening and morning and at noon I will complain and moan; and He will hear my voice.
