And Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not done. And he saddled the ass and rose up and went to his house, to his city. And he gave command to his household, then hanged himself, and died. And he was buried in the grave of his father.
And Joab said, I will not wait this way before you. And he took three darts in his hand and struck them into Absalom’s heart while he was alive, in the midst of the oak.
And Absalom happened to come before David’s servants. And Absalom was riding on a mule, and the mule came in under the thick branches of a great oak. And his head was firmly held in the oak, and he was lifted up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him passed on.
Indeed, the Son of Man goes, as it has been written about Him. But woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is given over. It were good for him if that man was never born.
