O Jehovah, set a guard to my mouth; keep watch on the door of my lips.
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile;
To the chief musician, to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, I will keep my ways from sinning with my tongue; I will keep my mouth with a muzzle while the wicked one is before me.
I became mute and still; from good I was silent, and my pain was stirred.
My mouth is filled with Your praise, with your glory all the day.
Put no faith in a companion; put no trust in a friend; guard the opening of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom;
If anyone thinks to be religious among you, yet not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this one’s religion is vain.
For we all stumble in many ways. If any one does not stumble in word, this one is a mature man, able also to bridle the whole body.
