Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah and turn from evil.

And David rose up from the earth, and bathed, and anointed. And he changed his clothing, and came into the house of Jehovah, and worshiped. And he came to his house, and commanded, and they brought bread for him; and he ate.

The former governors who were before me were too heavy on the people, and had taken bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their young men bore rule over the people. But I did not do this, because of the fear of God.

There was a man in the land of Uz, his name was Job. And this man was perfect and upright, and fearing God, and turning away from evil.

And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to turn from evil is understanding.

And Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid, for God has come in order to test you, and so that His fear may be on your faces, that you may not sin.

The wise ones fear and turn from evil, but the fool passes over and is bold.

The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn aside from snares of death.

Iniquity is covered by mercy and truth, and in the fear of Jehovah men turn aside from evil ways.

Do not labor to become rich; cease from your own understanding.

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Answer a fool according to his foolishness, lest he be wise in his own eyes.

A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but the discerning poor one examines him.

One trusting in his own heart is a fool, but the one walking in wisdom shall be delivered.

The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; I hate pride and loftiness, and the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

Let us hear the end of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this applies to every man.

Woe to the wise ones in their own eyes, and discerning in their own faces!

For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be wise among yourselves, that hardness in part has happened to Israel until the fulfilling of the nations comes in;

be mindful of the same thing toward one another, not being mindful of high things, but be accommodating to the lowly. Do not become wise among yourselves;
