A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps.

For a share he makes known to friends ; even his son’s eyes shall be consumed.

They speak vanity, each man with his neighbor; with flattering lips and with a heart and a heart they speak.

For he flatters himself in his own eyes, only to find his depravity to be hated.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is engulfing ruin; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.

For in vain the net is spread in the sight of every lord of the wing.

A revealer of a secret walks about as a gossip, so do not meddle with him who opens his lips.

A tongue of falsehood hates those it crushes, and a flattering mouth works an occasion of stumbling.

He who reproves a man afterwards finds grace, more than he who flatters with the tongue.

With her much persuasiveness she turned him aside; with the flattering of her lips she forced him,

to keep you from the strange woman, from the foreign one with her flattering words.

From on high He has sent fire into my bones and subdued them. He spread a net for my feet; He has turned me back; He gave me desolation; all the days I faint.

For such ones do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth speech and fine speeches they deceive the hearts of the ones without guile.

For neither were we then found with a word of flattery, even as you know, nor with pretense of covetousness (God is witness),

And Saul’s servants spoke these words in David’s ears. And David said, Is it a light thing in your eyes to be son-in-law to the king? And I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed.
