Do not let my heart turn aside to any evil thing, to thrust out deeds in wickedness with men who do iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies.
And the king set to them the portion of a day in its day, from the king’s food, and the wine of his drinking, even to rear them three years, so that at their end they may stand before the king.
And Daniel set on his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine of his drinking, and he sought of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
But take heed to yourselves that your hearts not be loaded down with headaches, and drinking, and anxieties of life, and that day come suddenly upon you.
