A bribe is a stone of favor in the eyes of its owner, everywhere he turns he is shrewd.

A gift in secret subdues anger; yea, a bribe in the bosom quiets fierce fury.

For oppression makes a wise man mad; and a bribe destroys the heart.

Your rulers are rebelling and are companions of thieves. Everyone loves a present, and is pursuing bribes. They do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them.

For I know your transgressions are many, and numerous are your sins: oppressing the righteous ones, taking of a bribe, and turning aside the needy ones in the gate.

Both palms are on evil, to do it well. The ruler is asking for a bribe, also the judge. And the great man speaks the lust of his soul; he acts, and they weave it together.

You shall not pervert judgment. You shall not regard faces, and you shall not take a bribe; for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous ones.

And David received from her hand what she had brought to him. And he said to her, Go in peace to your house. See, I have heard your voice and have accepted your face.
