Jehovah is far from the wicked ones, but He hears the prayer of the righteous ones.

The lips of the wise ones disperse knowledge, but the heart of fools is not so.

The sacrifice of the wicked ones is a disgusting thing; how much more when he brings it with an evil intent!

For Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice is to be chosen more than sacrifice.

He who turns aside his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is a disgusting thing.

Guard your feet when you go to the house of God, and draw near to hear, more than to give a sacrifice, as do the fools. For they do not know that they are doing an evil thing.

My dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secrecy of the steep place, let Me see your form. Let Me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your form is beautiful.

For I, Jehovah, love judgment, hating robbery for that which goes up in burnt offering. And I will give their work in faithfulness; and I will cut an everlasting covenant for them.

He who slaughters an ox is as if he struck a man; he who sacrifices a lamb is as if he broke a dog’s neck; he who offers a present is as if it were swine’s blood; he making mention of incense is as if he blessed iniquity. Yea, they have chosen their way, and their soul delights in their detestable idols.

Why is this to Me; frankincense comes from Sheba, and the good cane from a land afar off? Your burnt offerings are not for acceptance, and your sacrifices are not sweet to Me.

At the beginning of your prayers the Word came forth, and I have come to declare it. For you are greatly beloved, and to discern the matter and understand the vision:

And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings is at all eaten on the third day, it is not pleasing. It shall not be reckoned for him who has brought it. It shall be unclean , and the person who eats of it shall bear his iniquity.

With what shall I come before Jehovah, to bow down before the loftiness of God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves, sons of a year?

Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriads of torrents of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my womb for the sin of my soul?

And Haggai answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before Me, a statement of Jehovah. And so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

Who is even among you and would shut the doors, and you not kindle fire on My altar in vain? There is no delight to Me in you, says Jehovah of Hosts. I will not be pleased with a food offering from your hand.

God is spirit, and the ones worshiping Him must worship in spirit and truth.
