The heart of the righteous one meditates how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked ones pours out evil.

Behold, they belch forth with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, Who hears?

In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, but one restraining his lips is prudent.

The lips of the righteous one know what is pleasing, but the mouth of the wicked ones knows only perversity.

Every prudent one deals with knowledge, but a fool lays open his folly.

The tongue of the wise makes glad knowledge, but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

The heart of the wise ones makes his mouth prudent, and he adds learning on his lips.

A fool brings out all of his spirit, but holding back, the wise ones quiet it.

Do you see a man hastening in his words? There is more hope for a fool than of him.

Do not be hurried with your mouth, and do not let your heart hurry to bring forth a word before God. For God is in Heaven, and you are on earth; on account of this, let your words be few.

Do not allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; do not say before the angel that it was an error. Why should God be angry over your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?

Offspring of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

but sanctify” the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to speak in defense to every one asking you a word about the hope in you, with meekness and fear, Isa. 8:12, 13

For speaking great swollen-over words of vanity, by the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lusts, they allure the ones indeed escaping, the ones walking in error,
