to understand a proverb and an enigma; the words of the wise ones, and their riddles.

I will stretch out my ear to a parable; I will open my dark saying on the harp.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will pour forth dark sayings of old,

These also are for the wise ones: to know faces in judgment is not good.

The words of wise ones are as goads; yea, as nails driven in are the masters of collections, they are given from one Shepherd.

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when those transgressing have finished, a king, strong of face and skilled at intrigues, shall stand up.

I speak to him mouth to mouth, and by an appearance, and not in riddles; and he looks upon the form of Jehovah. So why have you not been afraid to speak against My servant, against Moses?

And He said to them, To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to these, those outside, all things are being given in parables,

But He did not speak to them without a parable. And He explained all things to His disciples privately.

But solid food is for mature ones, of the ones of whom the faculties having been exercised through habit, for judgment of both good and bad.

as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable pervert, as also they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
