The wise ones hear and increase learning, and he understanding gets wise counsel,

Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he hating chastisement is one of stupidity.

Give to a wise one, and he will be more wise; cause a just one to know and he will add to learning.

I speak as to prudent ones; you judge what I say.

But if you have understanding, hear this; listen to the sound of my words:

Therefore, O man of heart, listen to me; far be it from God to do wrong, and the Almighty, to do injustice.

Men of heart will say to me, and a wise man who hears me will say,

And it happened, as he spoke with him, that he said to him, Have we given you as a counselor to the king? Stop yourself! Why should they strike you? And the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has counseled to destroy you because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

A scorner seeks wisdom, but finds it not, yet knowledge is swift to the discerning.

I turned back and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift ones, and the battle not to the mighty ones, and not even bread to the wise one, and not even riches to discerning ones; and not even favor to ones knowing. For time and occurrence happen to them all.

and you shall keep and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding before the eyes of the peoples who hear all these statutes. And they shall say, This great nation is a people wise and understanding.

O wise men, hear my words; and you who know, give ear to me;

Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not let go.

Do not reprove one scorning, lest he hate you; reprove a wise one, and he will love you.

The heart of one being discerning gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise one seeks knowledge.

Strike a scorner and one of simplicity will become shrewd; reprove a discerner, and he will discern knowledge.

The one of simplicity is made to be wise when the scorner is punished, and when the wise one is instructed, he takes in knowledge.
