If thieves came to you, if those destroying by night, how you have been cut off! Would they not have stolen enough for them? If those gathering grapes came to you, would they not leave gleanings?

The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places. How are the mighty fallen!

Oh shining star, son of the dawn, how you have fallen from the heavens; you weakening on the nations, you are cut down to the ground.

Yet gleanings shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree; two or three oliveberries in the top of a branch; four or five in the fruitful branches,a statement of Jehovah God of Israel;

For it is thus in the midst of the land, among the peoples, it shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as gleanings when the grape harvest is completed.

If the grape gatherers come to you, would they not leave gleanings? If thieves come by night, will they destroy their sufficiency?

How the hammer of all the earth is cut off and broken! How Babylon has become a horror among the nations!

So says Jehovah of Hosts, Gleaning they shall glean the remnant of Israel like a vine and turn back your hand as a grape gatherer over the tendrils.

How alone sits the city that was full of people! She has become like a widow, one great among the nations; a noblewoman among the provinces has become a payer of tribute.

And your mighty one, Teman, shall be afraid, so that each man from the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Woe to me! For I am like the gatherings of summer fruit, like the gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul craves the early fig.

This is the joyful city, dwelling confidently, the one saying in her heart, I am, and none other still is. How she has become a ruin, a resting place for animals! Everyone who passes near her shall hiss; he shall shake his hand!

When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan, and for the widow.

standing from afar because of the fear of her torment, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment came.
