Their best is like a thorn; the upright one more than a hedge of thorns. The day of your watchers, your visitation is coming; now shall be their confusion.
And what will you do in the day of visitation and of ruin? It comes from far away. To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?
For it is a day of tumult, and of trampling down, and of confusion, by the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, in the valley of vision; digging down a wall, and crying to the mountain.
Instead of the thorn-bush, the fir tree shall come up; instead of the brier, the myrtle shall come up; and it shall be for a name to Jehovah, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Also her mercenaries are in the midst of her like calves of the stall; for they also have turned back, fleeing together. They stood not because the day of their calamity had come on them, the time of their calling to account.
Were they ashamed when they had made an abomination? They were not even at all ashamed, and they did not know how to blush. So they shall fall among those who fall. In the time that they rebel they will wither, says Jehovah.
And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them and of their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are with you, and though you are living among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, and do not be frightened by their faces, though they are a house of rebellion.
And there will not be a pricking brier or a painful thorn to the house of Israel any more from all who surround them, those who hate them. And they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.
And He said, Amos, what are you seeing? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. And Jehovah said to me, The end has come on My people Israel; I will not again pass over him any more.
