Was it not told to my lord that which I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of Jehovah, that I hid a hundred men of the prophets, fifty by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
and it happened, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and had hidden them, fifty men in a cave, and had fed them with bread and water);
And Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, So let the gods do, and more so, if not at this time tomorrow I will cause your life to be as the life of one of them.
And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the eyes of Jehovah.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Yet one man, to seek Jehovah by him. But I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil, Micaiah the son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
And the king sent to him the commander of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him. And behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he spoke to him, O man of God, the king has said, Come down.
And Asa was angry with the seer; and he gave him up to the house of stocks. For he was in a rage with him for this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Jehovah went up against His people, until there was no healing.
But they were disobedient, and rebelled against You, and cast Your Law behind their backs. And they killed Your prophets who testified against them, to turn them to You. And they worked great blasphemies.
And it happened when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, Dying you shall die.
For the Son of Man is about to come with His angels in the glory of His Father. And then “He will give reward to each according to his practice.” LXX-Psa. 61:13; Pro. 24:12; MT-Psa. 62:12
And when you fast, do not be as the hypocrites, with sullen face, for they disfigure their faces so that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you that they have their reward.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! The one killing the prophets, and stoning the ones having been sent to her, how often I desired to gather your children in the way a hen gathers her brood under the wings, and you did not desire it.
But love the ones hostile to you, and do good, and lend, causing no one to despair, and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones.
who now rejoice in my sufferings on your behalf and fill up in my flesh the things lacking of the afflictions of Christ on behalf of His body, which is the Assembly,
for indeed you suffered together in my bonds; and you accepted the plunder of your possessions with joy, knowing yourselves to have a better and abiding possession in Heaven.
But without faith it is impossible to be pleasing to God. For it is necessary for the one drawing near to God to believe that He is, and that He becomes a rewarder to the ones seeking Him out.
