And you say, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift on it owes a debt.

If a man shall sin against his neighbor, and he shall lift up an oath on him, to cause him to swear, and he shall come and swear before Your altar in this house,

When a man vows a vow to Jehovah, or has sworn an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do all that has gone out of his mouth.

Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whoever swears by the Holy Place, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the Holy Place owes a debt.

Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the Holy Place that sanctifies the gold?
