These are the generations of Jacob: Joseph, a son of seventeen years, was feeding the flock with his brothers, with Bilhah’s sons and with Zilpah’s sons, his father’s wives. And he was a youth. And Joseph brought an evil report of them to their father.
But having gone out, that slave found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii. And seizing him, he choked him, saying, Pay me whatever you owe.
And having looked around on them with anger, being greatly grieved over the hardness of their heart, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he stretched out, and his hand was restored sound as the other.
And having come near that slave reported these things to his lord. Then being angry, the housemaster said to his slave, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor ones and crippled ones, and lame ones and blind ones.
Yield to the ones taking the lead of you, and submit, for they watch for your souls, giving an account, that they may do this with joy, and not with groaning; for this would be unprofitable to you.
