And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the leaders, and all the mighty men of strength, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained except the poorest sort of the people of the land.
And it happened in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin the king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-seventh of the month, Evilmerodach the king of Babylon, in the year he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin the king of Judah out of the prison,
Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak stood up, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel in order to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God in Jerusalem. And with them were the prophets of God helping them.
Is this man Coniah a despised shattered jar, or a vessel in which is no pleasure? Why are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into the land which they do not know?
So says Jehovah, Write this man childless, a man who will not prosper in his days, for not one from his seed will prosper, a man sitting on the throne of David and ruling any more in Judah.
which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he took into exile Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the Word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah; and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying:
And Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him. And the people feared before Jehovah.
And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people and they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of Hosts, their God,
Now speak to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
In that day, a statement of Jehovah of Hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel, My servant, the son of Shealtiel, a statement of Jehovah, and will make you like a signet; for I have chosen you, a statement of Jehovah of Hosts.
So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon until the Christ, fourteen generations.
