Why does this one speak blasphemies this way? Who is able to remit sins, except One, God?
Who gives a clean thing out of an unclean one? Not one!
But forgiveness is with You that You may be feared.
I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My sake; and I will not remember your sins.
To the Lord our God belong mercies and pardons, for we have rebelled against Him,
Who is a God like You, lifting off iniquity and passing by the transgression of the remnant of His possession? He does not make strong His anger forever, for He delights in mercy.
Then the high priest tore his garments, saying, He blasphemed! What need do we have any more of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard His blasphemy.
And, behold, some of the scribes said within themselves, This one blasphemes.
You heard the blasphemy. What does it appear to you? And they all adjudged Him liable of death.
But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,
And instantly knowing in His spirit that they reasoned this way within themselves, Jesus said to them, Why do you reason these things in your hearts?
And the scribes and Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to remit sins except God alone?
And those reclining with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this who even remits sins?
The Jews answered Him, saying, We do not stone You concerning a good work, but concerning blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself God.
do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am Son of God?
