And they buried him in his grave which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which he had filled with sweet odors and kinds of aromatic herbs, with a mixture of ointments by art. And they burned a great burning for him.
And He being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, He reclining, a woman came, having an alabaster vial of pure, costly ointment of nard. And breaking the alabaster vial, she poured it down on His head.
Therefore, since it was Preparation, that the bodies not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for great was the day of that sabbath, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and they be taken away.
