And I say to you, Whoever shall dismiss his wife, if not for fornication, and shall marry another, that one commits adultery. And the one marrying her having been dismissed commits adultery.
Everyone putting away his wife, and marrying another, commits adultery. And everyone marrying her having been put away from a husband commits adultery.
So therefore, if the husband is living, she will be called an adulteress if she becomes another man’s. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so as for her not to be an adulteress by becoming another man’s.
The wife does not have authority of her own body, but the husband. And likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife.
