And it happened, as they were going on and speaking, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire came. And they separated between them both, and Elijah went up in a tempest to the heavens.
And taking aside the Twelve, He said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things will be fulfilled which have been written through the prophets to the Son of Man.
But as they were hearing these things, adding, He spoke a parable, because He was near to Jerusalem, and they thought that the kingdom of God was immediately to be revealed.
And before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He should pass from this world to the Father, having loved His own in the world, He loved them to the end.
And no longer am I in the world, yet these are in the world; and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the ones whom You have given to Me, that they may be one even as We are.
And, confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in flesh, was justified in Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, “and has sat down at the right hand” of the throne of God.”
