and standing by His feet, weeping behind Him, she began to wash His feet with tears. And she was wiping with the hairs of her head. And she ardently kissed His feet and was anointing them with the ointment.

And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the first-born.

Blessed are the ones mourning! For they shall be comforted.

And going outside, Peter wept bitterly.

Blessed are those hungering now, for you will be filled. Blessed are the ones weeping now, for you will laugh.

And, behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, knowing that He reclined in the Pharisee’s house, taking an alabaster vial of ointment,

But seeing, the Pharisee who invited Him spoke within himself, saying, This One, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what the woman who touches Him is; for she is a sinner.

And it was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

Be distressed, and mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy into shame.
