Woe to you, The ones having been filled, for you will hunger! Woe to you, The one laughing now, for you will mourn and lament!

For He will go to the generation of his fathers; they will not see light forever.

Even in laughter pain is in the heart and in its end that joy is grief.

lest I become satisfied and deceive, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I become dispossessed and steal, and lay hold of the name of my God.

I said of laughter, it is mad, and of mirth, What does it do?

Grief is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made good.

For as the sound of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool. And this also is vanity.

But also these also have erred by wine, and have strayed through fermented liquor; priest and prophet have erred through fermented liquor; they are swallowed from wine; they stagger from fermented liquor; they err in vision; they stumble in judgment;

So the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry. Behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty. Behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed.

And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry. And it shall be, they shall be hungry; he will be angry and curse his king and his God, and face upward.

And he cuts off on the right hand, yet is hungry. And he eats on the left, but they shall not be satisfied; each man shall eat the flesh of his own arm;

And I will turn your feasts to mourning, and all your songs into a dirge. And I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like the mourning for an only son; and the end of it shall be like a day of bitterness.

For as long as thorns are woven together, and as their drunkards are drunken, they shall be devoured like fully dried straw.

But God said to him, Fool! This night they demand your soul from you; and that which you prepared, to whom will it be?

There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside.

But woe to you, rich ones, for you have your comfort!

Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers did according to these things to the false prophets!

And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she died.

also baseness, and foolish talking, or joking (the things not becoming), but rather thanksgiving.

For when they say, Peace and safety! Then sudden destruction comes upon them, like the birth-pain to the one having babe in womb, and they shall not escape, not one.

Be distressed, and mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy into shame.

Because you say, I am a rich one, and I am made wealthy, and I have need of nothing, and do not know that you are the wretched one and miserable one and poor one and the blind one and the naked one.

The sated ones have hired themselves out for bread; and the hungry have ceased, while the barren has borne seven; yea, she who had many sons has languished.
