It is a sabbath of rest to you, and you shall humble your souls in the ninth of the month at evening; from evening until evening you shall keep your sabbath.
And it happened, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I said that the gates should be shut, and said that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, so that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day.
For so says the One being high and being lifted up, He who inhabits eternity, and Holy is His name: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite one and the humble of spirit, to make live the spirit of the humble ones and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.
to appoint to the mourning ones of Zion, to give them beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of the spirit of infirmity, so that one calls them trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, in order to beautify Himself.
And it shall be for a never-ending statute, in the seventh month, in the tenth of the month, you shall humble yourself and do no work, the native, and the alien who is staying in your midst.
Also, on the tenth of this seventh month shall be a day of atonement; there shall be a holy gathering, and you shall humble your souls and shall bring a fire offering to Jehovah.
