And it shall be for a never-ending statute, in the seventh month, in the tenth of the month, you shall humble yourself and do no work, the native, and the alien who is staying in your midst.

And all the men of Israel were assembled to King Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, at the feast, which is the seventh month.

And when the seventh month had come, and the sons of Israel were in the cities, the people assembled as one man to Jerusalem.

And I called a fast there at the river Ahava, so that we might humble ourselves before our God, in order to seek from Him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our goods.

But in their sickness, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fastings; and my prayer returned to my bosom.

And I wept in the fasting of my soul, it also was to my reproach;

And on the first day shall be a holy gathering, and in the seventh day a holy gathering shall be to you. Not any work may be done on them. Only what must be eaten by your soul, that alone may be done by you.

and the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah your God; you shall not do any work, you, and your son, and your daughter, your male slave and your slave-girl, and your livestock, and your stranger who is in your gates.

And Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once in a year; from the blood of the sin offering of the atonement once in the year he shall make atonement on it for your generations; it is most holy to Jehovah.

And you shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy for you; the profaners of it dying shall die; for everyone doing work in it, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of his people.

Work may be done six days, and on the seventh day is a sabbath of rest, holy to Jehovah; everyone doing work on the Sabbath day dying shall die.

If you turn your foot away because of the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy days, and call the sabbath a delight, to the holiness of Jehovah, glorifying, and glorify Him, to the holiness, away from doing your own ways, from finding your own pleasure or speaking your word;

They say, Why have we fasted, and You did not see? We have afflicted our soul, and You did not know. Behold, on the day of your fast you find pleasure; and you drive all your laborers hard.

Is the fast I choose, a day for a man to afflict his soul? To bow his head down like a bulrush, and he spreads sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day of delight to Jehovah?

And he said to me, Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you gave your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

I ate no desirable food, and flesh and wine did not come into my mouth. I did not anoint myself at all until three weeks of days were fulfilled.

And you shall make a proclamation on this same day; it is a holy gathering to you. You shall do no work of service. It is a never-ending statute in all your dwellings for your generations.

Work is to be done six days, and in the seventh day shall be a sabbath of rest, a holy gathering; you shall do no work; it is a sabbath to Jehovah in all your dwellings.

Seven days you shall bring a fire offering to Jehovah; on the eighth day you shall have a holy gathering; and you shall bring the fire offering to Jehovah; it is a solemn assembly; you shall do no work of service.

And you shall let a rams’ horn pass over a call in the seventh month, in the tenth of the month; in the day of atonement, let a rams’ horn pass throughout all your land;

It shall be a never-ending statute for your generations in all your dwellings. You shall not eat any fat or any blood.

And on the tenth of this seventh month you shall have a holy gathering; you shall do no work of service, you shall humble your souls.

And considerable time having passed, and the voyage already being dangerous, because the Fast already had gone by, Paul advised them,

For if we judged ourselves, we would not be judged.

For he entering into His rest, he himself also rested from his works, as God had rested from His own. LXX-Psa. 95:11; Gen. 2:2

And they were gathered to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured out before Jehovah. And they fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.
