And he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; yea, he burned every great house with fire.

And Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox goes up, he will even break down their stone wall.

They shall pour him out by the sword; they shall be a portion for foxes.

Be not angry, Jehovah, until exceeding, and do not remember iniquity forever. Behold! Look, we pray; all of us are Your people.

O My mountain in the field! I will give your wealth, all your treasures, for prey, your high places for sin throughout all your borders.

Why have you prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolated, without one living in it? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.

So says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah. And, behold! This day they are a ruin, and no one lives in them,

And My fury and My anger poured out and burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem. And they are for a waste and for a desolation as at this day.

And he burned the house of Jehovah and the king’s house. And he burned all the houses of Jerusalem with fire, and all the houses of the great ones.

I will take up a weeping and a wailing for the mountains and a dirge for the pastures of the wilderness. For they are burned up, without a man passing through. Yea, they do not hear the voice of cattle. From the fowl of the heavens and to the beast, they have fled; they are gone.

And I will give Jerusalem to be a heap of ruins, a den of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, not [one] living in it.

O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts.

And now, listen, O our God, to the prayer of Your servant and his supplications, and cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary that is desolate, for the sake of the Lord.

Therefore, on account of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house into high places of the forest.
